This
1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 coupe, a tantalizing find for collectors, will be offered for auction January 18-22, 2012 at Russo and Steele's 12th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction.
Purchased February 13, 1970 from Curry Chevrolet, it was immediately
delivered to Motion Performance for the full treatment, including
engine, driveline and suspension modifications. Authenticated on
February 15, 2006 by Motion Performance president Joel Rosen, the car
was purchased by its present owner from the original buyer in 1999 along
with all the original factory parts and equipment removed for the
Motion upgrades.
This rare Motion machine has been frame-off restored while retaining all
the original sheet metal, driveline and interior. All original nuts,
bolts, fasteners brake and fuel line clips were reused; the car retains
the original tie rod ends, ball joints, rotors, calipers, wheel
cylinders, drums and control arms. Finished in its original Black Cherry
with White stripes, it presents exactly a completed by Motion
Performance in 1970.
An important touch: the original "DYNO-Proven Motion Performance" and
"Mr. Motion Super Chevrolet" decals are still present on the right
quarter glass! Documentation includes two factory build sheets, warranty
card with attached protect-O-Plate, the original bill of sale and
warranty book. Baldwin Motion Performance upgrades: are a 850 Holley
Double Pumper Carb, Super Comp Hooker Headers, Bored .30 over with
Sealed Power Pistons, Double Power Timing Chain, Hurst Shifter, 4.88
Rear Gear, ZL1 Competition Cam, 581 with 299 Duration on Intake, 622
with 309 Duration on Exhaust, High Volume Mech Fuel Pump, and front and
rear adjustable shocks.
Highlight: Vehicle was purchased February 13, 1970 and taken to Motion
Performance where it had performance modifications done. The consignor
is the second owner and he purchased from the original owner 11 years go
with under 13,000 miles. It is Black Cherry with Black interior. It was
a frame-off restoration. All original sheet metal, driveline and
interior. All paperwork including 2 build sheets (1 stapled under rear
seat), warranty card with Protect-O-Plates still attached, original bill
of sale from Curry Chevrolet and original owner's manual. It has Strato
bucket seats, F41 special suspension, GW8 and G80 Positraction with
4.10 ratio axle, J50 and JL2 power brakes, power front disc brakes, LS6
454/450 HP 4-barrel engine, M22 HD 4-speed transmission, and Z15 SS 454
converter.
