Mecum is now a sponsor partner with Panther DRR team for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Oriol Servia will drive the Number 22 Mecum Auctions car at the Indianapolis 500 this year. In 2012, Servia drove the Number 22 Mecum Auctions car to a fourth place finish at Indy.

“Last season’s inaugural sponsor partnership with Panther DRR was very exciting for Mecum Auctions with our fantastic finish at the Indianapolis 500," said Dana Mecum, founder and president of Mecum Auctions. "The entire Mecum family has been involved in racing for many years; it makes us very happy to announce our commitment to two more years of sponsorship with a passionate team with such deep racing roots like Panther DRR.”

The 2013 season will mark the 14th year of full-time competition for Panther DRR (previously Dreyer & Reinbold Racing), making it one of the longest tenured teams in IndyCar. Current co-owners Dennis Reinbold and Robbie Buhl won the first race they competed in at the Walt Disney World Speedway in January of 2000 with Buhl behind the wheel. The team now has over 300 race starts in the IZOD IndyCar Series and has successfully qualified 32 cars for the Indianapolis 500. Panther DRR has the most history of any IndyCar team as Reinbold's grandfather, the legendary "Pop" Dreyer, built leading roadsters that raced at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s.
