Legends of the Fall: Thousands Expected for Fall Calisle

Two years shy of its 40th birthday, Fall Carlisle aims to continue the tradition of being one of the premier events of its type, taking center stage at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, October 3-7.  During Fall Carlisle, nearly 100,000 enthusiasts will be immersed in the collector car swap meet, car corral and two-day auto auction, presented by Auctions America by RM.

The one-of-a-kind experience starts on Wednesday, October 3, with the always popular swap meet and car corral.  With 8,100 available spaces on site, including vending and car corral lots which historically sell out, buyers and sellers alike can take part in a unique shopping forum.  The swap meet and car corral allow for personal interaction between the buyer and seller.  Fall Carlisle also serves as the final car-themed event of the year at Carlisle and in most cases, the last chance regionally for enthusiasts who are looking to find a missing piece or part for their winter restoration project, a knick-knack for the “man cave” or special piece of automotive history.  These items and so many more can and will be found by the cart loads, all while attendees walk the 150-acre property.

Car corral excitement runs deep as a buffet line of autos are for sale by owner.  Each vehicle represents a particular place and time in automotive history and with sellers on site, would be buyers can deal directly with them.  In addition, Orrstown Bank offers financing on grounds, allowing for the transaction to take place within hours.  The car corral provides such a unique experience that buyers come from all corners of the globe, hoping to find a diamond in the rough.  With shipping services at Carlisle, both foreign and domestic, getting a purchased ride across the pond or south of the Equator is as easy as 1-2-3.

For the second consecutive Fall Carlisle event, Auctions America by RM returns to spearhead the two-day auto auction.  The auction, held at the nearby Carlisle Expo Center is expected to host approximately 300 cars.  In 2011, Auctions America by RM posted a 58% sales rate, totaling $2,783,304.00.  The top five cars sold are as follows:

1.     1959 DeSoto Firedome Convertible        $99,000

2.     2001 BMW Z8 Roadster                       $90,200

3.     1959 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible       $63,800

4.     1998 Bentley Brooklands                      $46,750

5.     1957 Chevrolet Bel Air                          $46,200

If this year’s quality is anything like 2011, the fall auction should once again be an exciting atmosphere.  Bidders or sellers wishing to register for the auction should contact Auctions America by RM at 877-906-2437 or by calling Denny Baish at Carlisle Events at 717-243-7855 ext. 167.
